Yesterday I had the huge pleasure of teaching my first group workshop at Harben House Hotel in Newport Pagnell. I would love to say that the day ran smoothly and completely to plan but this is newborn photography and the babies have their own agendas! Nevertheless, is was a fantastic day with 2 very gorgeous little models, Angel and Ava, who, after taking in the atmosphere and a few feeds, drifted off and we got to photograph them while they slept soundly.

Seeing as it was the first group workshop, (I have done many 1:1 mentoring sessions) it was also a great chance to try out some great products I hadnt used before, many great sponsors have come forward and offered samples for us to use, including the Newborn Baby Posing Beanbag UK , Everleaf, Photographers Floors & Backdrops, Wall2Wall (backdrops), Sew Whimsey (headbands), Fancy Bowtique and lastly the fantastic Rosco Litepad Gold Kit which really blew me away.
For over a year I have been looking for a solution for newborn photographers who often have to work in low light and cramped spaces. The Rosco Litepads are perfect, providing a diffused, daylight balanced light and remaining cool to touch.
Here are some shots from the day, thank you to my gorgeous models and their mummy’s, to the 7 fantastic ladies who didnt mind their Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch being more cold than hot for the sake of getting the images! Babies work on their own clocks and it was, of course inevitable, that they both went into a nice sleep right as lunch was served!

Hi Vicki,
I’m following your blog for a while now. Just love your pictures! Your a great inspiration to me. You always seem to have such a beautiful softness in your photo’s!
But I was wandering what kind of square lamp is being used above or in front of the baby? I would love to hear.
Maybe one day i will join your workshop. I hope so.
Thank you

Many thanks and hello!
It is a Rosco Litepad http://www.wexphotographic.com/search/?q=rosco%20litepad great light for newborn work as it is continuous, daylight balanced, very portable and stays cool to touch so someone can hold it for you if needs be! xx
